FASHION: Married to the Mob’s Tabatha McGurr releases her new book

Tabatha McGurr, daughter of graffiti legend Futura (Futura 2000) and fashionista CC McGurr, has been the voice of the “Married to the Mob” streetwear blog since the company began in 2004, when she was a high school student. Now 8 years later, the streetwear brand has grown with many collaborations under their belt, including Nike, Reebok, Wu Tang, Fafi, Baby G and Collette to name a few. They’ve also collaborated with some great ladies in hip hop including Kid Sister, Teyana Taylor, Shanell (from Young Money) and most recently, Oakland rapper Gita, in early 2012. They’ve also started a men’s line of t-shirts which Curren$y can be seen modeling for their Summer 2012 collection.

Tabatha recently published her own book entitled Tabatha. Made in collaboration with MTTM and New York Art Department, the 100 page art book is composed of Tabatha’s colorful photos, illustrations, text, and numerous collages – one which is printed on sticker paper to peel out completely.

Tabatha McGurr's Tabatha: A Scrapbook for Adults
Tabatha was a child created by the hip hop and fashion scenes and has created her own following through her writing and art. She not only does the blog and PR for MTTM, but also currently has her own column with Complex magazine called the Harsh Truth. She’s an inspiration to many young women and is continuing to progress not only the fashion culture but the hip hop culture in her own way.  I ordered my copy of her book and can’t wait to get it and go through it! You can order your copy of the book here on the MTTM site under the shop section.
