Queen Latifah exemplifies the strength of the black woman in hip-hop. What I admired most about Queen Latifah is she didn’t dress a certain way to get attention. She gained attention from wearing African crowns, rocking medallions and kente patterned clothing with dignity and pride. Latifah proved that she was and still is a confident black woman in a male dominated industry. She helped many females build confidence, self-respect and helped us to appreciate our rich culture and history. Queen Latifah’s strong stage presence and lyrical delivery demanded that you respect her like the Queen that she is.
This Black History Month we recognize Queen Latifah for her talents, confidence, strength and accomplishments. This is one female MC that is the perfect role model for our daughters.
