Couple of weeks ago I posted the video for “Feel Trip” and noted that Houston natives, Radio Galaxy (King Coz, Khimmy J aka Space Bunny Jefferson, Hini Slimdrix and King Midas) were releasing a new album, We Come In Peace, on November 15th. I also mentioned that I had never heard of this group before stumbling upon the track “Feel Trip”. Well the album is out and I instantly went to download it so I could hear some more great tunes. I was already super impressed with “Feel Trip” and “Space Invaders”, so it was almost inevitable that I would be feeling the album.
Now I have a question for y’all… What is with artists from down South pretending like we are all living in a galaxy? Outkast (well really just Andre 3000), Janelle Monae and even Badu at times have me thinking that they live on another planet. If you listen to Monae’ music you would swear “Metropolis” was the Earth? Wait, Metropolis is the Earth.
Radio Galaxy takes us to another land, their instrumentals fitting a Stanley Kubrick film. But you know what…I effin love it! Maybe it’s artists like these that take us to that next level in music! The production is pretty dope and vocals from Space Bunny Jefferson are just subtle enough for this complex production. Maybe they are just advanced and we need to catch up. Maybe we need to start planning towards living on galaxies? Well apparently there is something happening down South that we up North have no clue about. Some of my favourite tracks on the album are “Outta Control”, “Feel Trip”, “All In My Head” and my absolute fave “Space Invaders”.
Feel free to let me know what you think?
