Knowledge Speaks – Ekko Effect

On November 9th, 2011, Toronto emcee Ekko Effect released “Knowledge Speaks,” the first official single from his upcoming mixtape Knowledge Speaks Wisdom Listens (KSWL). He sets the tone for his full-length project with three inspirational verses and an uplifting hook over upbeat, soulful production from Nomadic Soul.

He lays out his journey, his story, his goals and his dreams but doesn’t leave out the hard truths about the reality of the Black male experience in Toronto: few of us reach the success we fight for. Ekko is about positivity and change, and “Knowledge Speaks” epitomizes that attitude, which is the theme of KSWL.

Nomadic Soul’s soundbed is a perfect match for that positivity, with its hearty samples, hopeful horns and uptempo kicks, snares and cymbals. Ekko proves to have an ear for production talent, and enlists many more bright up-and-coming beat-makers on KSWL.

Ekko Effect and Winners Circle Music will celebrate the release of KSWL on Thursday, November 17 at the College Street Bar at 574 College St. in Toronto. The mixtape drops on Friday, November 18.
